now i know that i am in clothing heaven: plaid, dots, red and black -- all favourites of mine. and then there is that woollen "sock pullover sweater". next to the woollen sock scarves (which i haven't shown you yet), a piece of clothing that i hope i don't "wear down" this winter, as i reach for it again and again and again and again and ... (well you get the picture).

i am wearing rundholz mainline a/w 2017 (woollen "sock pullover sweater") and rundholz black label a/w 2017 (dress, leggings and boots).

what do you call something that isn't a piece of clothing but is more than just an accessory ... like this "pouches vest"? (which, by the way, is truly a treasure!)

i am wearing rundholz mainline a/w 2017 ("pouches vest" and chelsea boots) and rundholz dip a/w 2017 (dress/tunic, skirt, pullover top and coat).

i cannot express how positively thrilled i was to learn that a plaid print was gracing the front (back and sides) of rundholz black label clothing this a/w. my pre-rundholz days were all about plaids and tartans (and even ginghams). and red! one of my favourite colours. i may be very close to clothing heaven.

"falling" (or starting to "fall"). the last time that i can remember starting to wear fall/winter clothes this early was when i was in uni. then, i relished starting out the school year with a brand new fall outfit, no matter the weather. i am not sure what it is about this september that has made me want to pull out fall/winter clothes sooner (rather than later). in any event, here i go with another autumn/winter of dressing. starting with some rundholz clothes from last autumn/winter ... and some new rundholz boots.

i am wearing rundholz mainline a/w 2017 (shoes) and rundholz black label a/w 2016 (top, jacket and skirt).

some rundholz outfits seem so "plain" to me. in the face of such outfits, i start thinking about being a bit more selective about which pieces i should choose in the future. while i like the "plain" pieces, i live for the more "out there" pieces. so why not just pick only those in the future? recently, i "downsized" my fluevog collection, by keeping only those pairs that were uniquely fluevog. it was hard to do -- it took more than a year to accomplish -- but, in the end, it felt right. i feel like it is time to do the same thing with my rundholz collection (but on a going forward basis). sticking to what i truly like when i admire a label is hard for me, particularly when i have limited access to it. i am driven by a need to have as much of the label as i can get my hands on. but at some point, this need does lessen. maybe it is because i have so much of the label already. maybe it is because my relationship with the label matures.  whatever it is, there is a shift in how i approach collecting/maintaining/curating a label. some things to think about as i step into a new season of rundholz.

a week or so ago, i rearranged my "closets". (i say "closets" because i have multiple locations in my place where i store clothing. sadly, for me, i don't have one "storeroom" where all my clothes, shoes, bags, etc. reside). i used to store my "wardrobe" by season (a/w and s/s) and within seasons by colour. if i had multiple "seasons" of one label (within a season), these were not stored separately. the recent reorganization was driven by the fact that, now, i own mostly rundholz clothing (very little else) and mostly black rundholz clothing. so here is how my "wardrobe" is now arranged: by "rundholz season" -- all s/s 2017 is together, regardless of colour, all a/w 2016 is together, regardless of colour, all s/s 2016 is together, regardless of colour, etc., all the way back to s/s 2014. maybe it's irrational, but i feel like, now, it is so much easier to get dressed.

some time ago, i may have mentioned that i have embarked on a campaign to make myself "more buff". this has entailed working out four times a week more than previously (which was four times a week) and adding different workouts than i did previously. working out as often as this means i spend a lot of time wearing (not to mention, laundering) workout clothes and "athleisure" (which for me means clothes that are like workout clothes (e.g., "track pants", "track jackets" and skirts and dresses made of "workout friendly" material) that i wear to and from my workouts). super comfortable. but there is this one small problem: when i get used to wearing workout gear and "athleisure", i seem to forget how to dress casually wearing my "regular" clothing. this was outfit number four for a trip to the "summer fair" (and one of the four outfits was an "athleisure" one). now, i am not saying that one can't wear "athleisure" other than to take one to and from a workout. but, radical though i am when it comes to the look of my clothing, i still like to compartmentalize my outfits in a fairly traditional manner. maybe because i have so many clothes -- it seems a waste, for example, to have denim (which i can't wear to work, nor can i workout in it) and not take the opportunity to wear it on a casual weekend outing because i would rather live in my workout clothes.

to the extent that i live for clothes, the arrival of august brings with it that dance between continuing to enjoy the current season's crop of clothes and imagining what i might be wearing in several weeks' time from next season's crop of clothes. i survive the dance by repeating to myself the phrase "live in the present". it's my end of season mantra. (helping with the "live in the present" sentiment, end of season sales -- picked me up some more shoes and specs.)

once upon a (pre-blog) time, i had a pair of hush puppies. the vintage suede loafer kind. these rundholz black label shoes remind me a lot of those hush puppies.

i am wearing rundholz black label s/s 2017 (dress, top and shoes). (p.s. that white patch on my arm is one of those heat patches. about a month ago, i decided that i was going to spend the summer making myself "more buff". so i added some different workouts to my usual regimen. and i am feeling it. not a lot. but on this day enough that i wanted the "pain relief" brought by a heat patch.)
